“Why?” It’s one of a child’s favorite questions. When asked to do something (especially something they don’t like), children want to know the reason behind the request. Have you noticed that adults are the same? When we know why we are to do something, we can persevere even when the going gets tough.
So why do cell-based ministry? If our motivation is numerical growth, to be trendy, or to copy another church, we will most likely quit. Those reasons are not sufficient to overcome the barriers.
When our church made the switch to a cell-based ministry more than a decade ago, not everyone was pleased. In fact, 30 people left the church. That wasn’t what I was hoping for.
However, I was determined to press forward because I was convinced that cell-based ministry was the best way to make disciples who make disciples in the New Testament mold.
Because I had dug deep into the scriptures and studied cell ministry ahead of time, I was able to answer the many questions from people about what we were doing and why.
Today our church is much larger and spiritually mature than it was 11 years ago. I know it wouldn’t look the same if I hadn’t started with a foundation of “Why”.

¿Por qué el Ministerio celular?

“¿Por qué?” Es una de las preguntas favoritas de los niños. Cuando se le pide que haga algo (especialmente cuando algo que no les gusta), los niños quieren saber la razón de su solicitud. ¿Ha notado que los adultos hacen mismo? Cuando sabemos qué vamos a hacer algo, podemos perseverar incluso cuando las cosas se ponen difciles.
¿Entonces por qué el ministerio basado en células? Si nuestra motivación es el crecimiento numérico, para estar a la moda, o copiar a otra iglesia, lo más probable es no seguir. Esas razones no son suficientes para superar las barreras.
Cuando la iglesia se cambió a un ministerio basado en células más de una década atrás, no todo el mundo estaba contento. De hecho, 30 personas salieron de la iglesia. Eso no era lo que yo esperaba.
Sin embargo, yo estaba decidido a seguir adelante porque estaba convencido de que el ministerio basado en células era la mejor manera de hacer discpulos que hacen discpulos en el molde del NT.
Porque yo haba excavado profundamente en las Escrituras y estudiado el ministerio celular antes de tiempo, tuve la oportunidad de responder las muchas preguntas de la gente sobre lo que estábamos haciendo y por qué.
Hoy en da la iglesia es mucho más grande y madura espiritualmente de lo que era hace 11 años. Sé que no sera la misma si no hubiera empezado con una base de “por qué”.
