The circle of influence or oikos is the immediate sphere of responsibility for every Christian. It is also the place where the believer is salt and light. Some Christians do not have a clear idea of the extent of their influence and end up neglecting the opportunity to evangelize. Not only are we responsible for our own actions, we are also responsible for all those we influence. For this reason, it’s important to know the extent of our influence and then determine how we can best shine our light.
As we think about our workplace, family, and friendships, we will discover that we have more influence than we sometimes imagine. This is also true of our neighborhood.
Once those oikos relationships are identified, we must continue to pray for those people we want to bring to Christ. Conversion is a supernatural event that goes beyond all human possibility. If God does not save a person, no one will be able to do it on their own strength.
It is necessary to deepen friendships with those we know best. You can always do something to get closer to other people. In doing so, you will discover that everyone has a specific unmet need. When we discover what that need is, we must then walk the extra mile–doing something for that person that no one else will do. When you go the extra mile, you will leave an impression on the other person that will prepare the ground for the reception of God’s Word.

Penetrando Nuestro Oikos.
El crculo de influencia o oikos es el campo de responsabilidad inmediato de todo cristiano. También es el lugar donde inicialmente debe cumplir su función de ser luz y sal. Algunos cristianos no tienen una idea clara del alcance de su influencia y descuidan as la oportunidad que tienen para evangelizar.
No solamente somos responsables por nuestros propios hechos, también somos responsables por todas aquellas personas sobre quiénes tenemos influencia. De ah que es muy importante saber hasta dónde llega nuestra influencia y decidir ser verdadera luz para ellos.
Una revisión de las relaciones laborales, familiares y de amistad, nos puede llevar a descubrir que tenemos mayor influencia de la que a veces imaginamos. Lo mismo sucede en nuestro vecindario.
Una vez identificados los lazos que forman nuestro oikos, debemos orar por cada aquellas personas a quiénes deseamos llevar a Cristo. La conversión es un hecho sobrenatural que va más allá de toda posibilidad humana. Si Dios no salva a una persona, nadie podrá hacerlo por su propia fuerza.
Se hace necesario profundizar la amistad con el oikos. Siempre es posible acercarnos más a las otras personas. Al hacerlo, descubriremos que cada quien tiene una necesidad que llenar. Entonces es cuando el cristiano debe andar la milla extra. Hacer por esa persona lo que nadie más hará. El andar esa milla extra dejará una impresión perdurable en la otra persona que preparará el terreno para la siembra de la Palabra.
