Transparency Precedes Edification and Evangelism

1 Cor. 14:24-25 describes a “perfect” cell meeting. The community is being observed by the persons searching for peace (“unbeliever or ungifted one”) and all are “prophesying” (e.g., edifying, exhorting, encouraging (14:3). The supernatural presence of Christ, the Head of the Body, is so powerfully manifested that the “secrets of the unbeliever’s heart are made manifest; and so he will fall down on his face and worship God, declaring that God is among you indeed.” This describes BODY LIFE EVANGELISM in action. The power of spiritual gifts manifested through the members prophesying convicts the unbeliever.

What is not referred to in this verse that must precede prophesying? The confession of issues that necessitate edifying, exhorting or encouraging! Transparency among the members must cause either faults (James 5:16) and or sins to be disclosed (1 John 1:9).

Consider the shock felt by the unconverted observers when open sharing of faults and sins are confessed by the believers. They then observe how the believers minister to each issue, manifesting supernatural gifts of Christ (giving, serving, helping others in distress, discerning true and false spirits, healing, putting deepest knowledge into words, etc., etc.)

How can a cell attain this level of transparency? By transforming from dismembered body parts to closely attached arms, legs, etc. According to 1 Corinthians 12:13, this is the work of the Holy Spirit and involves each person being prepared to “look to the interests of the others” (Philippians 2:4).

It is my conviction that the group must pass through the Conflict Stage described by Jesus in Matthew 18:15-17 before transparent trust will be experienced. By wrestling with conflicts among the members and finding brokenness as a lifestyle, honest sharing will begin.

In our cell group in South Carolina some years ago, we had entered that intimacy. One woman shared her confession. She had a responsible job in the government contacting corporate executives to offer tax credits if they would open a factory in the state. This required her to travel to distant cities where negotiations took place over several days. With tears, she confessed her infidelities in the past to get these contracts. She asked us to pray with her for purity as she flew the next to for another conference. We formed a prayer vigil to be interceding for her. Victoriously, she signed a huge contract without getting into sin on the trip. Upon her return, we met her flight with a banner: “Welcome home, Victorious One!”

Our cell had a visiting couple who had not yet decided to follow Christ. They attended the meeting when she shared her story and saw the results: this brought both of them to become Christ followers.

Too often, cells live at a subnormal level of transparency and never experience the transforming Power and Presence. It is important for them to be coached about the critical need to be transparent.

La Transparencia precede a la Edificación y la Evangelización en la célula

1 Cor. 14:24-25 describe la “perfecta” reunión celular. La comunidad está siendo observada por las personas que buscan la paz (“incrédulo o sin dones”) y todos están “profetizando” (por ejemplo, edificando, exhortando y animando [14:03]). La presencia sobrenatural de Cristo, la Cabeza del Cuerpo es una manifestación tan poderosa que los “secretos del corazón del incrédulo se manifiestan; y por eso el caerá sobre su rostro, y adorará a Dios, declarando que verdaderamente Dios está entre vosotros ciertamente” Esto describe el CUERPO DE VIDA DEL EVANGELISMO en acción. El poder de los dones espirituales se manifiesta a través de los miembros y la profeca convence al incrédulo.

¿Que no está referido en este versculo que debe preceder a la profeca? ¡La confesión de los temas que requieren edificación, exhortación o ánimo! La transparencia entre los miembros debe causar cualquiera faltas (Santiago 5:16) y/o pecados a revelar (1 Juan 1:9).

Considere la conmoción sentida por los observadores inconversos cuando son confesadas las faltas y pecados por los creyentes. Ellos observan cómo ministrar a los creyentes a cada tema, manifestando los dones sobrenaturales de Cristo (dar, servir, ayudar a otros en peligro, espritus verdaderos y falsos exigentes, sanidad, poner el conocimiento más profundo en palabras, etc…)

¿Cómo puede una célula alcanzar este nivel de transparencia? Mediante la transformación de las partes del cuerpo desmembrado para conectar brazos, piernas, etc. De acuerdo con 1 Corintios 12:13, esta es la obra del Espritu Santo y consiste en que cada persona este dispuesta a “mirar los intereses de los demás” (Filipenses 2:4).

Es mi convicción de que el grupo pase por la etapa de conflicto descrito por Jesús en Mateo 18:15-17, antes de que se experimente la confianza transparente. Al luchar con los conflictos entre los miembros y la búsqueda de quebrantamiento como estilo de vida, el compartir sincero comenzará.

En nuestro grupo de células en Carolina del Sur hace algunos años atrás, entramos en la intimidad. Una mujer compartió su confesión. Ella tena un puesto muy alto en el gobierno, tena que contactar ejecutivos de empresas para ofrecer créditos fiscales si ellos abran su fábrica en el estado. Esto la obligaba a viajar a ciudades lejanas donde las negociaciones se llevaban a cabo durante varios das. Con lágrimas, ella confesó sus infidelidades en el pasado para obtener estos contratos. Ella nos pidió que oráramos con ella por la pureza mientras volaba a otra conferencia. Formamos una vigilia de oración para interceder por ella. Victorioso, ella firmó un gran contrato, sin cometer pecado en su viaje. A su regreso, la recibimos en su vuelo con una pancarta: ¡”Bienvenida a casa, Victoriosa!”

Nuestra célula tena un par de visitas que aún no haban decidido seguir a Cristo. Asistieron a la reunión cuando ella compartió su historia y vieron los resultados: esto trajo a ambos a llegar a ser seguidores de Cristo.

Con frecuencia, las células viven en un nivel inferior a la normal en la transparencia y nunca experimentan el poder transformador y Presencia. Es importante para ellos que sean entrenados sobre la necesidad imperiosa de ser transparentes.
