From the day I opened my heart to Christ I have had a soft heart for missions. Whenever I would see a mission presentation I felt called, and my heart would break for that particular people group. Maybe that is why, when I had the chance, I went out to the frontlines myself to plant, rescue and restart churches.
Some years ago God called me on a 40 day fast. I thought it was for one reason but God had different plans. During those 40 days God broke my heart for the nations. So it was natural in my pioneer efforts that I wanted to spread this mission heart to all those I came in contact with and to all those I could model leadership to.
At the cell level it starts with praying for those without Christ and doing something as a cell to actually reach out to people. For a few years we asked all our groups to throw a monthly event all during the same week called Connection week. This was a great way to keep the focus outward and to design events that our friends without Christ would actually want to come to.
On the local level we want to impact our community and region. So we hold monthly servant evangelism events to get out in the community and share the love of Christ in various ways. We assign various cell groups to these events as well as invite those in the church who have not connected to a cell to participate together. We have gone into a needy section of our community and held a block party with great success. We also get our cells involved with a local ministry called “HALO” which stands for Hope and Life Outreach. This is a community program to help the homeless and includes a café, day center and holistic help for the needy.
I also want all our cells to have a heart for the nations. So each cell group adopts one of the regions we are impacting directly. They pray for and raise funds for these particular regions. Currently we are focused on Pakistan, India and China. As we send teams to these regions they go to bless these pastors and ministries. We have provided Bibles, bicycles and other practical tools for ministry. We have freed slave children, supported pastors and have helped with various projects.
As our groups experience the thrill of seeing God work through them in the community my prayer is that they will take mission trips together and make a difference beyond their wildest imagination. I have seen people forever changed after one mission trip. So we keep pointing people outward and providing opportunities to help them develop a mission heart. When they have that, there will be no stopping them.

Fomentando un corazón para las misiones

Desde el da que abr mi corazón para Cristo, He tenido un corazón blando para las misiones. Cada vez que vea una presentación acerca de las misiones Yo senta el llamado, y mi corazón se rompa por ese grupo particular de personas. Tal vez es por esto, que cuando tuve la oportunidad, me fui al frente a plantar, rescatar y reiniciar iglesias.
Hace años atrás Dios me llamo a un ayuno de 40 das. Yo pensé que era por una razón, Pero Dios tenia diferentes planes. Durante esos 40 das Dios rompió mi corazón para las naciones. Pero era natural en mis esfuerzos de pionero que yo quera difundir el corazón misionero, a todos aquellos que vinieron en contacto conmigo y a todos aquellos que les pude modelar liderazgo.
En el nivel celular empezamos con oración por aquellos que no tienen a Cristo y haciendo algo como célula para alcanzar las almas. Desde hace unos años, le pedimos a todos los grupos que lanzaran un evento mensualmente durante la misma semana y lo llamaramos “Semana de Conexión”. Esta fue una gran manera de mantener el enfoque hacia el exterior y para diseñar eventos que nuestros amigos sin Cristo quisieran venir.
En el nivel local, queremos impactar a nuestra comunidad y región. Entonces tenemos eventos de evangelismo mensualmente, donde salimos en la comunidad y compartimos el amor de Cristo en diferentes maneras. Asignamos diferentes grupos celulares a estos eventos, as como también los invitamos a nuestra iglesia a aquellos que no están conectados en una célula para participar juntos. También involucramos nuestras células con un ministerio local llamado “HALO” que significa Esperanza y alcanzar vidas. Estos es un programa comunitario que ayuda a las personas sin hogar y esto incluye una cafetera, un centro diario y centro de ayuda integral a los más necesitados.
También quiero que todos nuestros grupos celulares tengan un corazón para las naciones. As que cada grupo celular adopta una de las regiones que están impactando directamente. Ellos oran y levantan fondos por estas regiones en particular. Actualmente estamos enfocado en Pakistán, India y China. A medida que mandamos equipos a estas regiones, ellos van a bendecir a estos pastores y ministros. Proveemos Biblia, bicicletas y otras herramientas practicas para el ministerio. Hemos liberado niños esclavizados, apoyamos a los pastores y ayudamos en varios proyectos.
A medida que nuestros grupos experimentan la emoción de ver el trabajo de Dios por medio de ellos en la comunidad, mis oraciones son que ellos tomen los viajes misioneros juntos y hagan la diferencia más allá de su imaginación. He visto gente cambiar para siempre después de un viaje misionero. As que mantenemos apuntando hacia afuera a la gente y proveyendo oportunidades para ayudarlos a desarrollar un corazón misionero. Cuando tengan eso, Nadie los detendrá.
