A blessing for us: Our cell group experienced significant growth and insights when moving the meeting from one member’s home to another every couple of weeks. Seeing each member’s living conditions, whether modest or elaborate, helped us to connect with them as a host and to see them in their own setting. By rotating between the homes for a period of more than 6 months we were able to become well acquainted with one another, including additional family members. I believe this helped us to know each member’s needs and become closer friends. We also had to stay in close touch with them to know where the meeting would be next week! This produced a lot of connecting between meetings and forced us to locate those who missed a cell meeting and would not know the next location.
A danger for us: having the cell leader host in their own home each week. This seems to follow a bible study mentality and the home can easily become a miniature Sunday-morning program replacement. Here’s what I mean; people arrive at the same place each week, at the appointed time, to be catered to by the person who sets up, provides the teaching, and then tears down, while the member does nothing but attend. All of the responsibility falls to one or two leaders and it soon becomes their goal to keep everyone happy and coming back. Not the results we are after in cell-based ministry.
Sharing the hosting and moving the group occasionally will spread the work out. This may help you discover great hosts with the gift of hospitality. Leaders rise to meet needs, so you’ll likely find your next leaders in the process. Once you find a great host home you can stay there for an extended season to grow the group and disciple new multiplication leaders.

Una bendición para nosotros: Nuestro grupo de células ha experimentado un importante crecimiento y puntos de vista cuando se mueve la reunión de la casa de un miembro a otro cada semana. Compartir el alojamiento y mover el grupo de vez en cuando extiende el trabajo. Esto puede ayudarle a descubrir grandes anfitriones con el don de la hospitalidad. Los Lderes satisfacen las necesidades, as que lo más probable es encontrar a los próximos lderes en el proceso.
