The Host’s Circle of Influence

by Mario Vega

The host has an advantage over other cell members becuase her or she is the owner of the house. This is very important to the guests. It’s different when I’m inviting someone over to my house than when I’m inviting that same person to someone else’s home.

The host is the only one who can say to his friends: “I want to invite you to a meeting at my house”. Everyone else will have to say: “I want to invite you to a meeting in the house of someone I know.”

It is for this reason that the host has to take advantage of that leverage and win his or her circle of influence. The host’s role is vital for cell multiplication. In fact, all the other cell members, in one sense, will have to depend on the host’s attitude to win their own friends for Jesus.

The cell members should be considerate to the host since the cell’s wellfare will depend to a large extent on the host’s well-being. This should not nullify each member’s responsibility with cell multiplication, but neither should we underrate the host’s key role. In the acknowledgment of the diverse but complementary function of each member lies the key to multiplication.
