One of the things that I love about cell ministry is how we seek to meet outside the church building. Cells are not just another program that the church offers for attenders – but they are living organisms penetrating neighborhoods, workplaces and campuses with the love of Jesus.
The challenge we sometimes face is helping people make the mental shift to take their groups from the church building to their homes and workplaces, etc.
Our “church building” is a theatre downtown, and we do make accommodations to some groups to meet at the theatre. It is a convenient gathering place for some who don’t have transportation or when wheelchair accessibility is necessary. This is not the default location, however, and we sometimes have to ask folks to “think outside the box” about where they will meet.
Some hosts transform the waiting rooms and lobbies of their businesses in order create a gathering place for their cell. There are men who gather at a Tire Shop on Monday nights to praise God and hear the Word! Another group meets in the lobby of a dental office and one of the wives sends food for them to enjoy.
Determining where to meet weekly fosters teamwork among group members, causes people to be creative and not just to “got to church” but to “be the church.”
How do you get your members to make the “mental shift” to meeting outside the church building?

¿Adónde se reúne tu grupo?

Una de las cosas que me encanta del ministerio celular es la forma en que tratamos de cumplir fuera del edificio de la iglesia. Las células no son más que otro programa que la Iglesia ofrece a los asistentes -, sino que son organismos vivos que penetran los barrios, lugares de trabajo y las escuelas con el amor de Jesús.
El reto al que a veces nos enfrentamos es ayudar a la gente hacer el cambio mental para llevar a sus grupos de la iglesia a sus hogares y lugares de trabajo, etc.
Nuestra “iglesia” es un teatro en el centro de la ciudad, y hemos hecho arreglos para que algunos grupos se reúnan en el teatro. Es un lugar de reunión conveniente para algunos que no tienen transporte o cuando la accesibilidad en silla de ruedas es necesaria. Esta no es la ubicación por defecto, sin embargo, a veces tenemos que pedirle a la gente que “piensen fuera de la caja” sobre dónde se reunirán.
Algunos anfitriones transforman las salas de espera y vestbulos de sus negocios con el fin de crear un lugar de reunión para sus células. Hay hombres que se reúnen en una tienda de neumáticos los lunes en la noche para alabar a Dios y escuchar la Palabra! Otro grupo se reúne en el vestbulo de un consultorio dental y una de las esposas enva alimentos para que puedan disfrutar.
Determinar dónde se reúnen semanalmente fomenta el trabajo en equipo entre los miembros del grupo, hace que la gente sea creativa y no sólo para “llegar a la iglesia” sino para “ser la iglesia”.
