Time with Your Family

For a little more than 41 years I have been a follower of Christ.  After my first year of discipleship, teaching Bible classes and actively shepherding others has been a regular part of my contribution to the life of His body.  Nearly 28 of those years have been accomplished through a paid staff position with a local congregation.  The regularity of births, family training, pre-marital coaching, weddings, illnesses and funerals has kept me involved in the various stages of physical and spiritual life.  As I have been filled by Him and then poured out to meet the needs of others my life has been supremely blessed and full.

Present throughout my life of serving God and His people, the consistency of my family and close friends has provided the stability for my own spiritual health and growth.  In many ways the life of a cell group provides the same conditions for each of us who lead a cell or live in the community of the cell family.  True, many of the faces change over time, but you always know who your “family” is within the cell-based church!

As I grow older in Christ, spending time with my family is increasingly important.  Through marriage and the addition of children within those homes, my immediate family has just reached a total of 20 persons (newest grandson Camdin Joel Breyer arrived on 12-1-2011).  All of these know and serve the living Savior, Jesus Christ.  Peggy, my wife, and I meet regularly with as many of these 20 as possible and our extended cell group families carry a similar weight of importance to us.

This is LIFE to us and I cannot think of a reason to interrupt being with those we love; cell families should meet regularly to experience the benefits of the Christian life together.  It is a great investment of time and over the longer span of a lifetime will produce the stability we need in an unstable world.

Hebrews 10: 24-25 reminds us, “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Tiempo con la familia

Por un poco más de 41 años he sido un seguidor de Cristo. Después de mi primer año de seguimiento, dando clases de Biblia y activamente pastoreando otros, esto ha sido una parte regular de mi contribución a la vida de su cuerpo. Casi 28 de esos años se han logrado a través de un personal pagado con una congregación local. La regularidad de los nacimientos, la formación de la familia, entrenamiento pre-matrimoniales, bodas, funerales, enfermedades, los cuales me han mantenido involucrado en las distintas etapas de la vida fsica y espiritual. Como ya han sido llenos por él y después vertidos para satisfacer las necesidades de los demás, mi vida ha sido sumamente bendecida y llena.

El presente alcanzo mi vida para servir a Dios y su pueblo, la consistencia de mi familia y amigos cercanos han proporcionado la estabilidad de mi propia salud y el crecimiento espiritual. En muchos sentidos la vida de un grupo de células ofrece las mismas condiciones para cada uno de nosotros que lideremos una célula o vivimos en una comunidad de la familia celular. Es verdad que muchos de las caras cambian con el tiempo, pero siempre se sabe quién es su “familia” y ¡está dentro de la iglesia basada en células!

A medida que van creciendo en Cristo, pasar tiempo con la familia es cada vez más importante. A través del matrimonio y la adición de los niños en los hogares, mi familia inmediata, acaba de llegar a un total de 20 personas (el más reciente es mi nieto Joel Camdin Breyer nacio el 12/01/2011). Todos ellos conocen y sirven al Salvador, Jesucristo. Peggy, mi esposa, y yo nos reunimos regularmente con 20 y como sea posible con nuestros grupos familiares de células, que tienen un peso similar de importancia para nosotros.

Esto es vida para nosotros y no puedo pensar en una razón para interrumpir el estar con nuestros seres queridos, las familias de las células se reúnen periódicamente para experimentar los beneficios de la vida cristiana juntos. Es una gran inversión de tiempo y en el lapso más largo de vida se produce la estabilidad que necesitamos en este mundo inestable.

Hebreos 10: 24-25 nos recuerda: “Y considerémonos unos a otros para estimularnos al amor ya las buenas obras, no dejando de congregarnos, como algunos tienen por costumbre, sino exhortándonos unos a otros, y tanto más, cuanto veis que aquel da se acerca. ”
