For some this year, Christmas will be a time that is fun-filled, with family … and for others, it will be a time of sadness and loneliness. For Christians, Christmas is a great time of the year to “go fishing” with the love of Christ to those in our circle of life who are in circumstances that have rendered them “needy”.

Are you looking for a few suggestions to engage your small group members in simple and practical “reaching out in love” activities this Christmas? Please consider the following:

  • Invite a single or single-again unsaved friend to your home for Christmas lunch/dinner (have a wrapped, inexpensive gift + greeting card ready to present to them before they leave your home)
  • Together with others in your group, visit the home of a widow or widower one evening and sing two or three Christmas carols at their door step, hug them, and present them with home cooked cookies or cake.
  • Gift wrap and present a small, “Thank you for your kind service” gift to the “check-out” person at your grocery store/petrol filling station, etc.
  • Deliver small packs of wrapped, commercially produced cookies/sweets, with simple expressions of love, to the local police “lock-up” for those held in detention (permission will first need to be obtained from the officer in authority).
  • Visit various aged people in a nearby retirement village or hospital – present them with home cooked cookies/fresh flowers, and a hug.

These are just a few suggestions to get you thinking. I am confident the Holy Spirit will help you and your group to “see” one or more special people to be recipients of your Christmas love. Happy fishing … have fun!

Pesca feliz… ¡diviértanse!

  • Loved this post! Rosemary Kauffman discipled me here in the United States and modeled Reaching Out In Love so beautifully. Bless you and your wife for your investment in Rosemary. Merry Christmas!

  • Hi Liz

Rosemary is a spiritual gem, and dear friend. We enjoyed a number of wonder-filled years together in ministry in Cairo. She is one of our team members in our Cells-church Consultants International organisation. I’d adopt her if I could. 🙂

Thank you for writing and for your encouragement. Please let me know if CCI can ever be of help to you in your walk and service to the Lord.

Best wishes to you and your family.

    Bill
