The main task of cell ministry is to make disciples of Christ. The goal is not just evangelism. That is an important part, but the ultimate goal is to make each new believer a disciple of Jesus. Indeed, the cell model becomes untenable if the goal of making disciples is not achieved since without disciples there are no leaders. Leaders are all disciples of Jesus.
The cell work is in itself a cycle that feeds itself. Each disciple becomes a cell leader. Each cell that is opened means more people reached with the gospel. With more people reached, there is a greater possibility of conversions. With the greater number of conversions, there is a greater possibility of more disciples. With more disciples, there are more cells. And so the cycle continues indefinitely feeding itself.
The theme of discipleship is often the weakest link in that cycle. When you neglect making disciples, the chain breaks and the work stagnates. Therefore, we must never lose sight of the fact that the cell work is supported through discipleship. The key to the cell work is found in that effort. It is the means and the end at the same time. It is the same goal that Jesus had (Matthew 28:18-20).

Células y discipulado

El elemento central del trabajo con células es el hacer discpulos de Cristo. La meta no es solamente la evangelización. Esa es una parte importante, pero la meta final es hacer de cada nuevo creyente un discpulo de Jesús. En verdad, el modelo celular se vuelve insostenible si no se alcanza la meta de hacer discpulos ya que sin discpulos no hay lderes. Los lderes son todos discpulos de Jesús.
El trabajo celular es en s mismo un ciclo que se alimenta a s mismo. Cada discpulo se convierte en un lder de célula. Cada célula que se abre significa más personas alcanzadas con el evangelio. A mayor número de personas alcanzadas, mayor cantidad de conversiones. A mayor cantidad de conversiones, más discpulos. A mayor cantidad de discpulos, nuevas células. Y, as, el ciclo continúa alimentándose de manera indefinida.
El eslabón más débil dentro de ese ciclo suele ser el tema del discipulado. Cuando el hacer discpulos se descuida, la cadena se rompe y el trabajo se estanca. Por ello, nunca se debe perder de vista el hecho que el trabajo celular se sostiene por medio del discipulado. En ese esfuerzo se encuentra la clave del trabajo con células. Es el medio y el fin al mismo tiempo. El mismo medio y el mismo fin de Jesús.
