“When the Church Was a Familyâ€, by Joseph H. Hellerman gave me some keen perspectives on the historical view concerning to whom the New Testament was written. His use of terms like “strong-group societies†helped me see the flaw in our American individualistic approach to living, even within the church. Isolation from others is often our downfall because we cut off the very relationships that God has purposed for our healing and wholeness. Salvation is provided by God alone, through His Son Jesus Christ, and our associations in a family unit of the body of Christ is where we work our this salvation.
With the universal breakdown of many of our own family units, we have little hope that entering a different family, even the family of God, will be of any real lasting value. But allow me to shout hope to you and grace to you! Dwelling together in unity is biblical. Finding life with others is biblical. The fact the we are designed by God to be united with others in His body without missing any parts is biblical. It does require faith and a shift in values for many of us to embrace this truth. But when we do, let’s say it together, the truth will set us free!

Su Cuerpo, Mi Familia

“Cuando la Iglesia era una familia”, por Joseph H. Hellerman me dio algunos puntos de vista penetrantes en el punto de vista histórico en relación a quien el Nuevo Testamento fue escrito. Su uso de términos como “fuerte grupo de sociedades” me ayudó a ver la falla en nuestro enfoque individualista de América a la vida, incluso dentro de la iglesia. El aislamiento de los demás suele ser nuestra perdición, porque le cortamos las mismas relaciones que Dios se ha propuesto para nuestra sanación y la integridad. La salvación se ofrece sólo por Dios, por medio de Su Hijo Jesucristo, y nuestras asociaciones en unidad familiar al cuerpo de Cristo es donde trabajamos nuestra salvación.
Con el fracaso universal de muchas de nuestras unidades de su propia familia, que tienen pocas esperanzas de entrar en una familia diferente, incluso la familia de Dios, será de ningún valor real y duradero. ¡Pero permtame que le griten esperanza y la gracia para ti! Vivir juntos en la unidad es bblico. Encontrar vida con otras personas es bblico. El hecho de que hemos sido concebidos por Dios para estar unidos con los demás en su cuerpo, sin que falte alguna pieza, es bblico. Se requiere fe y un cambio de valores para muchos de nosotros a aceptar esta verdad. Pero cuando lo hacemos, vamos a decirlo as, ¡la verdad nos hará libres!
