As I stated last week, most needs can be met through the cell church structure as it relates to people becoming healthy and whole. But there are occasions where people need more professional help than we can deliver.
It usually doesn’t take long to discern when a person needs help beyond what your current system can deliver. I’ve seen people bounce from cell to cell and the cell leaders asking for help and advice in handling this problem person. If the cell leader has done all they know how to do, then we as staff will get involved and try to mediate. It might be at that point we determine this person needs to receive one on one counseling with a staff person.
We have five full time pastors on our staff, and each of us will take turns sharing the load if a person needs some help. At our weekly staff meeting, we may receive an assignment to meet with a particular person. If one of us already has a relationship with that person, we try to work along those lines. We will always meet with them at least once to discern their level of need.
Our first goal is to see if they are saved and have a daily relationship with the Lord. If they do, we seek to determine if they are part of a cell group as well as attending the Sunday worship service. Again if they are involved at that level, most of their needs will be met. We try to make sure they understand that.
If their needs are greater, we have developed a list of local counselors, and even have a few that are part of our congregation that we can refer people to. For example when it comes to marriage counseling, we have a few people we refer them to.
Right now in this economy we have many who are unemployed and really struggling. We offer some benevolence but seek to help them do all they can do to find employment and get on their feet.
So based on the level of need, we do all we can as a local church to meet those needs and then to point people in the right direction. But we also refer people without hesitation to other professionals who are specialists in the area they may need help in.
Once people are stabilized and out of their crisis, we work hard at getting them into our on-going structure which is focused on helping people grow as a disciple to the point they can pass the help on to someone else, and thereby becoming a contributor and not just a taker.
I do feel that 95% of the problems can be dealt with through cells and the cell church system. What do you think?

Cuando una persona necesita más

Como dije la semana pasada, la mayora de las necesidades pueden ser satisfechas a través de la estructura de la iglesia celular lo que se refiere a las personas que son sanadas y completas. Sin embargo, hay ocasiones en las que la gente necesita más ayuda profesional que lo que se les puede ofrecer.
Por lo general, no toma mucho tiempo para discernir cuando una persona necesita ayuda más allá de lo que tu sistema actual puede ofrecer. He visto a gente ir de célula en célula y los lderes celulares pedir ayuda y asesoramiento en el manejo de esta persona problemática. Nuestro primer objetivo es ver si son salvos y tienen una relación diaria con el Señor. Si es as, tratamos de determinar si son parte de un grupo celular, as como la asistencia al servicio dominical. De nuevo si están involucrados en ese nivel, la mayora de sus necesidades serán satisfechas. Tratamos de hacer que ellos entiendan eso.
Si sus necesidades son mayores, hemos desarrollado una lista de consejeros locales, e incluso tenemos unos pocos que son parte de nuestra congregación a los cuales podemos referir personas. Por ejemplo, cuando se trata de consejera matrimonial, tenemos unas cuantas personas a las que los referimos.
Ahora mismo, en esta economa, tenemos muchos que están desempleados y luchando mucho. Ofrecemos cierta benevolencia, y buscamos como ayudarles a hacer todo lo que pueden hacer para encontrar empleo y ponerse en pie.
As que basado en el nivel de necesidad, hacemos todo lo que podamos como iglesia para satisfacer esas necesidades y luego llevamos a la gente a la dirección correcta. Pero también referimos personas sin hesitar a otros profesionales que son especialistas en el área en la cual pueden ser ayudados.
Una vez que la gente se ha estabilizado y están fuera de su crisis, trabajamos duro para alcanzarlos en nuestra estructura que se centra en ayudar a las personas, a crecer como un discpulo hasta el punto en que pueden pasar esa ayuda a otra persona, y por lo tanto convertirse en contribuyentes y no sólo un tomador.
