The term “Encounter” describes a special weekend event designed to set believers free from spiritual bondage. They originated over a half century ago as the cell movement followed the pattern of discipleship described in 1 John 2:12-14:
- The “little child” knows two things: his sins have been forgiven and he has a Daddy.
- The “young man” also knows he has an enemy, the accuser, and he has learned how to overcome his temptations.
- The “father” knows the Father intimately from many experiences and has experienced producing a new child for the Kingdom.
Based on this, we created two intertwining equipping patterns: Daily Growth Guides and three retreats. The reason was to establish repetition of concepts by daily interaction (“It takes SIX to STICK”) and at special times use a concentrated weekend to solidify the growth through these three stages.
The first retreat is called “Spiritual Formation.” Here the “little child” is introduced to cell life and he is assured his sins have been forgiven. He is assigned to a “young man” in the cell who will coach him as the accuser’s attacks occur. The “young man” is the best one to say, “You know, I have been where you are and let me tell you what to do!”
After a period of three months or so, together they attend the “Encounter” retreat. The intimacy they have experienced in the cell and their weekly meetings fosters powerful transparency through the weekend. Typically the subjects covered will be based on 1 Thessalonians 5:23, which defines strongholds as existing in “body, soul, and spirit.” If the presentations are about 15 minutes long with 15 minutes of discussion between the “little child” and “young man,” powerful deliverances take place!
At the close, the pamphlet used to write down “Strongholds,” “Soul Ties,” “Generational Curses,” etc. is burned as the collective group sings a song of victory.
Many Encounters have friends and cell members send letters to be opened and read by the “little children” as they unpack their bags, indicating the intercessory prayer taking place. And at the close, often the Encounter will provide time for the “little child” to write a letter to a “special person” to share there is a new relationship established because of spiritual victory experienced.
“Post-Encounters” are follow up evenings held to help those who need reinforcement of gains experienced in the weekend. Also, the Daily Growth Guides are deliberately prepared with reviews of the content presented at the Encounter.
After about six weeks, the final weekend event is attended by the “little child” and the “young man.” Called “Touching Hearts” weekend, the event begins by the two persons being set apart as “Partners” who will together list the names of all the responsive preChristians they know and prepare to cultivate and harvest them. A seven week cultivation time produces a significant harvest, usually followed by a churchwide Harvest Event.

El término “Encuentro” describe un evento especial en los fines de semana diseñado para libertar a los creyentes de la esclavitud espiritual. Fue originado desde hace más de 50 años en un movimiento celular que siguió el modelo de discipulado descrito en 1 Juan 2:12-14:
El “niño” sabe dos cosas: sus pecados han sido perdonados y que él tiene un papá.
El “hombre joven”, también sabe que tiene un enemigo, el acusador, y ha aprendido a superar sus tentaciones.
El “padre” conoce al Padre ntimamente por muchas experiencias y que ha experimentado la producción de un nuevo hijo para su Reino.
En base a esto, hemos creado dos patrones entrelazados: Guas de crecimiento diario y tres retiros. La razón era establecer la repetición de conceptos mediante la interacción diaria (“Se necesita de seis para pegar”) y, en ocasiones especiales usan un fin de semana para solidificar el crecimiento a través de estas tres etapas.
El primer retiro se llama “formación espiritual”. Aqu el “niño” se introduce en la vida celular y se le asegura que sus pecados han sido perdonados. Se le asigna a un “hombre joven” en la célula que le entrenar a medida que recibe ataques del acusador. El “joven” es el mejor para decir: “¡Sabes, he estado donde tú estás y permteme decirte que debes hacer!”
Después de un perodo de tres meses o mas, juntos asisten a un “Encuentro Espiritual”. La intimidad que han experimentado en la célula y sus reuniones semanales fomenta la transparencia del poder a través del fin de semana. Normalmente los temas se basarán en 1 Tesalonicenses 5:23, que define las fortalezas existentes en el “cuerpo, alma y espritu”. Si las presentaciones son de unos 15 minutos y con 15 minutos de discusión entre el “niño” y el “joven”, ¡liberaciones poderosas toman lugar!
Al cierre, en el folleto se escribe “Fortalezas”, “los lazos del alma”, “maldiciones generacionales”, etc., se quema y al instante el grupo canta una canción de victoria.
En muchos Encuentros tenemos amigos y los miembros de la célula envan cartas las cuales son abiertas y ledas por los “niños”, al momento de desempacar sus maletas, lo que indica la oración intercesora se esta llevando a cabo. Y al final, en el Encuentro se proporcionará tiempo para que el “niño” pueda escribir una carta a una “persona especial” en la cual el compartirá su nueva relación establecida por la victoria espiritual experimentada.
“Los Post-Encuentros” se seguimientos que toman lugar en la noche para poder ayudar a los que necesitan refuerzos de experimentadas ganadas en el fin de semana. Además, las Guas de crecimiento diario son deliberadamente preparadas con revisiones de los contenidos presentados en el Encuentro.
Después de seis semanas, el último fin de semana del evento es atendido por un “niño” y un “joven” Llamado “Tocando Corazones” en el fin de semana, el evento comienza con dos personas que se familiarizan como “socios” los cuales van juntos a enumerar los nombres de todos los no convertidos que ellos conocen y los preparan para cultivarlos y cosecharlos. Un cultivo de siete semanas produce una cosecha importante, por lo general seguido por un evento de cosecha en toda la iglesia.
