The oikos family of words includes not only oikonomos but also oikodomeo, translated “build up” or “edify.” It is, in the spiritual realm, what oikonomos is in the physical realm. As a servant of God, He entrusts me with His supernatural assets to build up my brothers and sisters in the oikos.
Every believer is to be an oikodomeo: Ephesians 4:16 teaches, “From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up (oikodomeo) in love, as EACH PART does its work.” The emphasis is on each believer participating in this oikos activity. Note 1 Corinthians 14:12: “Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up (oikodomeo) the church.” And 1 Corinthians 14:26: “. . . when you come together, EVERYONE has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening (oikodomeo) of the church.”
The focus of the oikos cell meeting is not a general Bible discussion group, although scripture will always flow in it. The agenda is…”US!” We are to build up one another through the manifestation of the gifts Christ energizes us to bring through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. We are all to become instruments of His grace gifts to build up one another.
Confession of our sins is to become a vital part of the oikos sessions: “If WE confess OUR sins…” (1 John 1:9) is the starting point. Transparent confession triggers each believer to seek the face of Christ for a ministry gift that will bring victory and restoration to a fellow body member.
According to 1 Corinthians 14:24-25, this expression of oikos body life becomes “oikos evangelism.” Attending unbelievers observe the power of Christ flowing between the members. Falling to their knees, they proclaim “God is among you!” Thus the ministry of the (oikodomeo) reveals the activity of Christ flowing through His oikos.
Apart from the context of the oikos, oikodomeo is not effective. It will not happen at all if the cell group is turned into a lecture/bible study. And it means that we must learn how to equip believers to become edifiers. Many cell churches do not do this at the present time. When edification appears spontaneously, the cell leader must use the moment to teach how it is experienced.
I was leading a cell when a man confessed he was fighting drugs. A woman who had strayed away long ago had recently returned to her Lord. The Spirit of God began to empower her. Softly I said, “Sarah, has the Father given you a word for Jason?” Like a gushing artesian well, she began to share from her own experience of being delivered from hard drugs. Christ’s Presence was flowing through her with great power. It was a “teaching moment” and I used it to point out to the cell how oikodomeo had taken place!

La familia de palabras oikos no sólo incluye oikonomos pero también oikodomeo, que se traduce “construir” o “edificar”, y es en el reino espiritual, lo que oikonomos es en el reino fsico. Como siervo de Dios, Él me confa sus bienes sobrenaturales para construir a mis hermanos y hermanas en los oikos.
Cada creyente es un oikodomeo: Efesios 4:16 enseña: “De quien todo el cuerpo, bien concertado y unido por todos los ligamentos, crece y se construye (oikodomeo) en el amor, ya que cada parte hace su trabajo.” El énfasis está en cada creyente al participar en esta actividad oikos. Nota 1 Corintios 14:12: ” As también vosotros; pues que anheláis dones espirituales, procurad abundar en ellos para edificación (oikodomeo) de la iglesia.” Y 1 Corintios 14:26: “… Cuando os reuns, cada uno de vosotros tiene salmo, tiene doctrina, tiene lengua, tiene revelación, tiene interpretación. Hágase todo para edificación (oikodomeo) de la iglesia.”
El enfoque de la reunión celular oikos no es un grupo de discusión Bblica, aunque la Escritura siempre fluirá en ella. La agenda somos “Nosotros” Tenemos que construirnos los unos a los otros a través de la manifestación de los dones que Cristo nos da y llevarlos a través de la inspiración del Espritu Santo. Todos debemos convertirnos en instrumentos de su gracia/dones para edificarnos los unos a otros.
La confesión de nuestros pecados debe llegar a ser una parte vital de las sesiones de oikos: “Si confesamos nuestros pecados ” (1 Juan 1:9) es el punto de partida. Las confesiones transparente dispara a cada creyente a buscar el rostro de Cristo para un regalo en el ministerio que traerá la victoria y la restauración de un miembro del cuerpo.
De acuerdo con 1 Corintios 14:24-25, esta expresión de la vida del cuerpo oikos se convierte en “el evangelismo oikos”. Los asistentes no creyentes observan el poder de Cristo que fluye a través de los miembros. Cayendo de rodillas, proclaman “¡Dios está entre vosotros!” As, el ministerio del (oikodomeo) revela la actividad de Cristo que fluye a través de sus oikos. Aparte del contexto de los oikos, oikodomeo no es efectivo. No sucederá nada si el grupo celular se convierte en una lectura o estudio Bblica. Y eso significa que tenemos que aprender a equipar a los creyentes a ser edificadores. Muchas iglesias celulares no hacen esto en la actualidad. Cuando edificación aparece de forma espontánea, el lder de la célula debe utilizar el momento para enseñarlo.
Yo diriga una célula cuando un hombre confesó que estaba luchando contra las drogas. Una mujer que se haba alejado hace mucho tiempo regreso recientemente a su Señor. El Espritu de Dios comenzó a trabajar en ella. Suavemente dije: “Sarah, ¿El Padre te ha dado una palabra para Jasón?” Como un pozo artesiano, ella empezó a compartir su propia experiencia de ser liberada de las drogas. Presencia de Cristo estaba fluyendo a través de ella con gran poder. Fue un “momento de enseñanza” y lo utilice para indicar a la célula ¡cómo oikodomeo haba ocurrido!
