Honoring Persevering Leaders

In 2011 Elim Church celebrated 25 years of cell church ministry. To mark this anniversary I thought it would be a once-only occasion in which we could give recognition to those leaders who had been consistent and persistent throughout the 25 years of cell church ministry.

Thinking that I wouldn’t find very many, I planned to print out some diplomas made of a special costly parchment. This particular type of parchment is a delicate material that must be printed one by one in special presses. We had several weeks to have them printed, so I asked the district pastors to make a list of those people.

A couple of days later, I was amazed to discover that the total number of leaders who had persevered in cell ministry for 25 years was 200. It was impossible to print parchment diplomas for all of them, not only for the amount of time it would take, but also because of the cost. In the end, we decided to hand out a medal of perseverance to each one of them.

It was an impressive to think that more than 200 people had faithfully persevered for 25 years of cell leadership! This meant that virtually all 200 leaders were pioneer leaders of the cell work in our church. A quarter of a century of loyalty to the cell work! We were so privileged to honor them for their faithful service.

Honrando lderes perseverantes.
