Recently, a man approached me right before a Sunday A.M. Celebration service. He asked if I could spend some time with him and counsel him. I told him I would love to get to know him, but I wasn’t real good at long-term counseling. I enjoy change and I lose passion for long-term counseling pretty quick. As the days unfolded, we met.
The man was discouraged and told his story to me through many tears. His wife of a few decades was filing for divorce. He was out of work and fearful of losing a child as well. I expressed my sorrow. I was impressed with his ability to walk through his darkness with integrity, grace, and the love of God. That would certainly not be easy given his lot. Further, he accepted a good portion of responsibility for his life condition.
I encouraged him to be a part of a cell group. He responded, “No thanks.†I replied, “What do you mean? I think you’ll find some good support through a set of relationships.†He stated, “Don’t need no cell group. I’ve got one already. They have sustained me through this pain and agony.â€
I asked him, “How have they sustained you?â€
He said, “They have listened to me and have loved me.â€
To my knowledge, in this particular cell group– there are no professional counselors or trained clergy. There are, however, people present who have walked through pain, hurt, disappointment, and loss…AND they are intent on helping the downtrodden.
I ended my time with this gentleman answering a few specific questions he had about his ordeal. I left our time together with a sorrowful disposition, but a light spirit. Indeed, I felt deep sorrow for him. Yet, my spirit was light because he was engaged in a cell that had listening ears and hearts of love.
2 Corinthians 1:4 reads, “He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.â€
Cell ministry is team ministry in which the pastor is not propped up as the almighty counselor, “go to guy,†and Bible answer man. Cell ministry empowers people to be the hands and feet of Christ. One is not alone to traverse the valleys of life.
This week, may your cell and the cells of your church be the listening ears and the hearts of love for the hurting.

Los sacerdotes de la célula

Recientemente, un hombre se me acercó justo antes de la celebración del domingo por la mañana. Me pidió que si poda pasar algún tiempo con él y aconsejarlo. Le dije que me encantara conocerlo, pero que no era muy bueno en el asesoramiento a largo plazo. Me gusta el cambio y pierdo pasión en la asesora a largo plazo bastante rápido. Como se desarrollaron los das, nos conocimos.
El hombre estaba bastante desanimado y me contó su historia a m a través de muchas lágrimas. Su esposa de unas décadas estaba presentando el divorcio. Él estaba sin trabajo y temeroso de perder a su hijo también. Expresé mi pesar. Me quedé impresionado con su habilidad para caminar a través de la oscuridad con integridad, gracia y el amor de Dios. Eso ciertamente no será fácil, dada su suerte. Además, aceptó una buena parte de la responsabilidad en su condición de vida.
Le animé a formar parte de un grupo celular. Él respondió: “No, gracias.” Le respond: “¿Qué quieres decir? Creo que usted encontrará un buen apoyo a través de un conjunto de relaciones. “Él dijo:” No necesito ningún grupo celular. Tengo uno ya. Ellos me han sostenido a través de este dolor y agona.”
Yo le pregunté: “¿Cómo te han sostenido?”
Él dijo: “Ellos me han escuchado y me han dado su amor.”
Que yo sepa, en esta célula en particular grupo no hay consejeros profesionales o clérigos entrenados. Hay, sin embargo, personas presentes que han caminado a través del dolor, heridas, decepción y la pérdida… y ellos tienen la intención de ayudar a los oprimidos.
Terminé mi tiempo con este señor al responder algunas preguntas especficas que tena sobre su terrible experiencia. Terminé nuestro tiempo, junto con una disposición triste, pero con un espritu de luz. De hecho, sent una profunda tristeza por él. Sin embargo, mi espritu fue la luz porque él estaba comprometido en una célula que tiene odos atentos y corazones amorosos.
2 Corintios 1:04 dice: “el cual nos consuela en todas nuestras tribulaciones, para que podamos también nosotros consolar a los que están en cualquier tribulación, por medio de la consolación con que nosotros somos consolados por Dios. ”
El ministerio celular es un ministerio en equipo en el que el pastor no es el sostén como el consejero Todopoderoso, “La persona a buscar”, y el hombre con la respuesta bblica. El ministerio celular permite a las personas a ser las manos y los pies de Cristo. No se trata solo de recorrer los valles de la vida.
Esta semana, puede tu célula y las células de tu iglesia ser los odos atentos y los corazones de amor por los que sufren.
