Team Leadership from the Earliest Biblical Source

Ad fontes, a Latin expression of the Protestant Reformation of 1517 calls us to a renewed attention to the Bible as the primary, earliest, and most fundamental source of Christian faith. As with any topic, it is important that we first look to the Scriptures for meaning, for scripture is God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16). Furthermore, we must look to the earliest Scripture source to discover the true origin and example of a particular practice. This blog will discuss the subject of team leadership as exemplified from the earliest sources in the sacred scriptures.
Team leadership has its origin in the very beginning pages of God’s word as Genesis 1:26 states, “Then God said, let us…” Throughout scriptures we understand God to exist as a Trinity, one God in three distinct persons, yet all equal, which makes God the ultimate team/community. The world was created out of this beautiful “team dance” (perichoresis), and we who bear this image of God (imago Dei), we must reflect this team dynamic. Furthermore, beauty, creativity, excellence, and shalom comes out when we lead as a team, reflective of God’s created order of the entire world.
Genesis 1:26-28 shows that the first human pair God placed on the earth were created and empowered to work as a team of rulers:
“Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.“ So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."
Adam and Eve were created to give team-leadership to creation. They were given the mandate to cultivate the earth together. In fact, God realized after creating Adam that he was lonely and needed a partner. Genesis 2:18, 22 states:
The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him… Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
In the same way Adam could not rule the earth alone and was not able to physically multiply without Eve, church leadership and multiplication is difficult without a team. Ephesians 4:11-13 reminds us that all five gifts, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, are necessary to equip the saints to do the work of the ministry and not just a lone-ranger, superstar pastor or teacher as is currently reflected in our church culture. Joel Comiskey asserts, “The day of the lone-ranger leader is over”; our churches must practice the plurality of leadership.
Beloved brothers and sisters, let us emulate the ancient biblical norms of team leadership; furthermore, as possessors of the imago Dei, let us reflect the true nature of God, the Ultimate Team.

El Equipo de liderazgo de la primera fuente bblica

“Las Fuentes” una expresión del latn de la Reforma Protestante de 1517 nos llama a renovar la atención a la Biblia como la fuente primaria, la más antigua, y la más fundamental de la fe cristiana. Al igual que con cualquier tema, es importante que primero veamos las Escrituras por el sentido, porque la Escritura es inspirada por Dios (2 Timoteo 3:16). Por otra parte, debemos mirar la fuente más temprana de la Escritura para descubrir el verdadero origen y el ejemplo de una práctica en particular. Este blog va a tratar el tema del liderazgo de equipos y como se ejemplifica a partir de las primeras fuentes en las sagradas escrituras.
El Liderazgo de equipos tiene su origen en las páginas iniciales de la misma Palabra de Dios como Génesis 1:26, "Entonces dijo Dios, vamos a…" A lo largo de las Escrituras entendemos que Dios existe como una Trinidad, un solo Dios en tres personas distintas, sin embargo, la igualdad de todos, lo que hace a Dios el equipo definitivo/comunidad. El mundo fue creado a partir de esta hermosa "danza en equipo" (penetración sin confusión-perichoresis), y que llevan la imagen de Dios (La imagen de Dios-imago Dei), debemos reflexionar sobre este equipo de trabajo dinámico. Por otra parte, la belleza, la creatividad, la excelencia, y Shalom (paz o llenura) sale cuando lideramos como un equipo, un reflejo de orden creado por Dios a todo el mundo.
Génesis 1:26-28 muestra que la primera pareja humana colocada por Dios en la tierra, fueron creados y con la facultad para trabajar como un equipo de gobernantes:
“Entonces dijo Dios: Hagamos al hombre a nuestra imagen, conforme a nuestra semejanza; y señoree en los peces del mar, en las aves de los cielos, en las bestias, en toda la tierra, y en todo animal que se arrastra sobre la tierra. Y creó Dios al hombre a su imagen, a imagen de Dios lo creó; varón y hembra los creó. Y los bendijo Dios, y les dijo: Fructificad y multiplicaos; llenad la tierra, y sojuzgadla, y señoread en los peces del mar, en las aves de los cielos, y en todas las bestias que se mueven sobre la tierra… "
Adán y Eva fueron creados para dar trabajo en equipo de liderazgo a la creación. Se les dio el mandato de cultivar la tierra juntos. De hecho, Dios se dio cuenta después de crear a Adán que él estaba solo y necesitaba una compañera. Génesis 2:18, 22 dice:
Y dijo Jehová Dios: No es bueno que el hombre esté solo; le haré ayuda idónea para él. Y de la costilla que Jehová Dios tomó del hombre, hizo una mujer, y la trajo al hombre.
De la misma manera que Adán no poda liderar la tierra solo, él no era capaz de multiplicarse fsicamente sin Eva, el liderazgo de la iglesia y la multiplicación es difcil sin un equipo. Efesios 4:11-13 nos recuerda los cinco dones, apóstoles, profetas, evangelistas, pastores y maestros, son necesarios para equipar a los santos para la obra del ministerio y no sólo un llanero solitario, pastor o maestro como estrella, esto actualmente se refleja en nuestra cultura de la iglesia. Joel Comiskey afirma: "El da del lder llanero solitario se ha acabado", las iglesias deben practicar la pluralidad de liderazgo.
Queridos hermanos y hermanas, vamos a emular a las antiguas normas bblicas de la dirección del equipo y, además, como poseedores de la imagen de Dios, vamos a reflejar la verdadera naturaleza de Dios, un equipo extraordinario.
