Two Great Methods to Share the Gospel

By Joel Comiskey, Share: Make Christ Real to Others, 2023

Both the Roman’s Road and Four Spiritual Laws are clear, simple ways to share the good news.

Before sharing, I like to start my presentation by saying, “Can I ask you a question?” More often than not, the person will say, “Sure.” Then I say, “Suppose you were to die today (I surely hope not) and you had to stand before God. Let’s just say God said to you, “Why should I let you into my heaven?” What would be your reply?

Most likely the person will talk about how he or she has been a good person and kept the golden rule. Most people who don’t know Jesus respond with some form of “I’m a pretty good person and God will eventually accept me.”

Since we know that good works won’t save anyone—only faith in Jesus Christ—you can then explain the gospel using the Roman’s Road or Four Spiritual Laws listed below. Again, I would recommend that you memorize and practice one of the two simple gospel presentations.

Roman’s Road

  1. We are all sinners. Romans 3:23 says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”
  2. The result of sin is separation from God: Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
  3. God provides salvation through Jesus Christ: Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
  4. What we have to do to be saved. Romans 10:9 says, “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
  5. The freedom for those who are saved. Romans 8:1 says, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

All you have to do is memorize key verses and you can use it at any time. You really don’t need to look anywhere else because this plan is excellent. You could stop right here, but it’s worthwhile to know that the Four Spiritual Laws are also available.

Four Spiritual Laws

  1. First law: God has a wonderful plan for your life (John 3:16; John 10:10).
  2. Second law: Man is a sinner and is separated from God, and thus can’t experience God’s wonderful plan (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23).
  3. Third law: Jesus Christ has provided the way for sinful man to come back to God through his death on the cross (Romans 5:8; John 14:6).
  4. Fourth law: We must individually receive Jesus as savior and Lord to be saved and experience God’s wonderful plan (Revelation 3:20).

The good news of Jesus Christ is very simple and we need to be prepared to share the gospel whenever possible.
