What We Need to Work on

by Joel Comiskey, 2023

For June, we’ve been discussing mending the nets or fixing holes in the cell system.

In our local church in Los Angeles, California, we are working on two critical areas for 2023-2024: Supervision (coaching) and the equipping track. We want to add supervisors and take the entire church through our five-book equipping.

We’re thankful for all God has done since our transition in 2019. We now have both Spanish and English cell groups. Our groups are reaching out to needy people throughout Los Angeles.

We launched our first cell conference in May 2023 and are already planning for the 2024 conference. Yet, we’d like to tell those present on May 18, 2024, that our supervisory system is working well and that more and more people are taking the church-wide equipping.

I believe that the cell church strategy is the best, most biblical strategy to make disciples who make disciples. It’s the strategy used by the early church and the one Jesus himself established. We believe this strongly and are going forward at full speed. However, as you know, holes in the cell system need to be fixed.

The words of Paul, the apostle are relevant to all of us: “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:58).
