After experimenting with triad meetings separate from the cell group meetings, we concluded it was not wise. It required an extra time/travel commitment that was not practical. Thus, we came up with this agenda:
Ice Breaker – 10 minutes
Worship: 12-15 minutes
Triads: 25 minutes
Full Cell Gathering: 30-45 minutes.
- Each Triad reports
- Outreach plans
- Possible issues for group to prophesy over
- Prophesying, ministry time
- Prayer for triad outreaches
- Announcements, offering, refreshments
When visitors are present, they join in the triad of the person who brought them. They are often the sole activity of this time as the team seeks to bond and minister to the person. In following weeks, the person is made free to share equally. At the proper time, the hosting member and the visitor may multiply and add a third person. They may remain as long as the cell does not exceed 12. Otherwise, two of the triads multiply to form a new cell.
Each triad should be given the freedom to miss about one cell gathering in four, when it is necessary to be “on mission” within their oikoses. On such occasions, the cell intercedes for their ministry. Continuous reporting between the triads is important. One app in Russian called HOLA is an example. It includes snapshots of cells, prayer requests, messages/videos from pastoral leaders, etc. It can easily be set up using a program like Messenger.
One of the beautiful things about triads is leadership development. Instead of the Cell Leader having to take responsibility for up to 12 persons, his role changes. He/she will always be leading one of the triads, but now there can be short pre- or post- sessions with the Triad Fathers to discuss their needs. Orientation of how to lead the triad, when begging them, can be a simple demonstration/discussion. After that, the experience of being in one makes it easy to lead a new one.
The powerful advantage of every cell member being mentored while mentoring cannot be underestimated! In a cell with just a cell leader, the passive member has no responsibility except to attend. In the triad pattern, where the Young Man is mentoring the Little Child while being mentored to produce Little Children by the Father, leadership is being developed. It is much easier to go from mentoring one person to leading a triad, and from there to leading a cell.
Harold Weitsz in South Africa has effectively developed triad Prayer Cells, networked together by Emails and Texts, that form among his cell members in their workplaces. Fellow workers who are believers from other churches often form the triad. Thus, the Kingdom of Priests is influenced to share issues pertinent to professions and businesses. These sometime grow into clusters of triads. Thus, at any given time of the day,, a bulletin sent to all who are registered can become a powerful intercessor base to touch special needs.

I found the material on cells within a cell very useful; in Australia we are finding reluctance in multiplication of cells because’i will miss my friends’; its too jagged a loss; some concepts; but if a group of 12 is 4 triads of 3 in multiplication; either 2 triads multiply and 2 remain , already with deep intimacy; or in g12 each triad reproduces another triad ; i feel this teaching from Dr Neighbour has been a great axiom for development a life purpose; also body life can be viewed across the triad; i would be interested in triad leader training resources
