When we speak of burn-out, the first thing that comes to our mind is “no more fuel.” In order to produce anything, there is the need for fuel. Engines run on fuel. Our bodies run on fuel. Our souls runs on fuel. Our spirits runs on fuel. There always is a need of a reservoir or tank to store sufficient fuel to keep things running. Every engine has a natural consumption of fuel. Constant refueling is necessary. While the consumption of fuel is natural and normal, it also must be continually monitored to find and repair any leaks. Leaks can rapidly empty any reservoir, demanding constant refueling. If natural consumption and leaks are greater than the refueling, the tank will dry out and the engine will stop.

Leadership burn-out follows the same process. It is very important for leaders to receive constant support and help from their coaches. Their “tanks” have to be refueled in different ways. Love and care from the coach, support by the cell living in true community, the one another life style, daily devotions, prayer, continuous vision confirmation, etc…

Some “leaks” that rob energy from leaders are dysfunctional people in the cell, consumers, antagonists, and vacuum cleaner or Dracula members who drain and suck all the blood of the leader. The best octane to fuel leaders is a correct vision of cell life as the body of Christ, with members that care for one another, and relate to each other in a nonjudgmental and loving relationship.

Correct vision leaks very fast. TV preachers and hundreds of books point in the opposite direction. This is why we have to refuel, reaffirm, and repeat it in every encounter with our leaders, be it formal or informal. The Biblical view of the cell as the church, as already explained, is not popular in this time of consumer based program churches. We are swimming up river, against the common trend. That is why we have to restate and reaffirm the vision constantly. When the vision is gone, the dead will resurrect. The old concept of church with all its gadgets, tricks and programs, comes back.

Those who lose the vision for the future will always revert back to the past for survival. I heard Dion Robert about fifteen years ago saying “Vision plus vision, equals division”

Agotamiento.

Cuando hablamos del agotamiento, lo primero que viene a nuestra mente es “no hay más combustible”. Para poder producir cualquier cosa, existe la necesidad de combustible. Los motores funcionan con combustible. Nuestros cuerpos funcionan con combustible. Nuestras almas funcionan con combustible. Nuestros espritus funcionan con combustible. Siempre hay una necesidad de un depósito o tanque para almacenar suficiente combustible para mantener las cosas en marcha. Cada motor tiene un consumo natural de combustible. Re-abastecer combustible es necesario. Mientras que el consumo de combustible es normal y natural, también debe ser continuamente monitoreado para encontrar y reparar cualquier fuga. Las fugas pueden rápidamente vaciar el depósito, exigiendo constante re-abastecimiento. Si el consumo natural y las fugas son mayores que el re-abastecimiento de combustible, el tanque se secará y el motor se detendrá.

El agotamiento en el liderazgo sigue el mismo proceso. Es muy importante que los lderes reciban apoyo constante y la ayuda de sus entrenadores. Sus “tanques” tienen que ser re-abastecidos de combustible de diferentes maneras. El amor y el cuidado del entrenador, apoyado por la célula en una verdadera comunidad, el estilo de vida, devociones diarias, la oración, la confirmación de la visión continua, etc…

Algunas “filtraciones” que roban la energa de los lderes son las personas disfuncionales en la célula, los consumidores, los antagonistas, y aspiradora o miembros Drácula que drenan y chupan toda la sangre del lder. La mejor octanaje de combustible a los lderes es una visión correcta de la vida de la célula en el cuerpo de Cristo, con los miembros que se preocupan los unos a los otros, y se relacionan entre s en una relación de amor y sin prejuicios.

Corrija las fugas de la visión rápidamente. Los predicadores de TV y cientos de libros apuntan en la dirección opuesta. Por eso tenemos que re-abastecer  reafirmar, y repetirlo en cada encuentro con nuestros lderes, ya sea formal o informal. El punto de vista bblico de la célula como iglesia, como ya se explicó, no es muy popular en esta época de consumo basado ​​en programas de iglesias. Estamos nadando ro arriba, contra la tendencia común. Es por eso que tenemos que repetir y reafirmar la visión constantemente. Cuando la visión se ha ido, los muertos resucitarán. El viejo concepto de la iglesia con todos sus aparatos, trucos y programas, regresa.

Los que pierden la visión para el futuro siempre volverán al pasado para sobrevivir. O a Robert Dion hace unos quince años diciendo “Visión mas visión, es igual a división”

As cells multiply, they create a network that slowly but surely penetrates neighborhoods and cities. The strength of these cell networks depend on the coordinated relationships between leaders and supervisors.

In an earlier blog, I talked about the delicate balance between cell evangelism and pastoral care. As the cell network extends, the evangelism and pastoral care continues to grow as well. As time passes, there is a growing presence of the church all over the city.

Because of the supervisory care structure, it’s difficult for a member or leader to practice unacceptable Christian behaviors without others knowing about it. The extensive cell structure allows for others to know what’s going on in the lives of the members and leaders. Cells become almost omnipresent. Upon detection of inconsistent conduct, the leader and supervisor begin the mutual action of exhortation, encouragement and prayer.

We won’t be perfect until we reach heaven, and the reality is that we will fall and manifest sins and difficulties as believers. We have found, however, that the cell model provides both the detection network and the spiritual first aid to deal with sin. And of course, the celebration wing also provides a powerful ally in helping leaders and members grow in holiness.

El modelo celular corrigiendo el pecado.

En la medida que las células se multiplican van creando una red que penetra poco a poco los barrios y las ciudades. La red se extiende y se conecta entre s por medio del trabajo coordinado de lderes y supervisores.

Anteriormente he dicho que la función de las células no es solamente la evangelización sino también el cuidado mutuo. En la medida que la red celular se extiende también crece la red de evangelización y cuidado. En la medida que el tiempo pasa cada vez hay mayor presencia de la iglesia en los distintos sectores de la ciudad.

As las cosas, es muy difcil para un miembro o lder incurrir en conductas impropias de un cristiano sin que sea percibido. Casi no habrá rincón de la ciudad en donde no sea reconocido. Las células se vuelven casi omnipresentes. Al detectarse una conducta incongruente lo que procede es la acción mutua de exhortación, ánimo y oración. Es decir que el mismo modelo de trabajo celular desarrolla las condiciones para el cuidado de sus miembros.

Como cristianos todava no glorificados habrá siempre manifestaciones de pecado y dificultades entre los creyentes. Pero el modelo celular se convierte en la red de detección y de primeros auxilios espirituales. Un aliado poderoso de la otra ala de la iglesia que es la celebración.

I am part of the Lead Pastor’s leadership cell. We have decided that coaching and discipleship are critical to the fulfillment of our vision, “To become a church of Sprit-filled, soul seekers who make disciples…who make disciples.”

We meet every Thursday for 1½ hours to share our lives, and strengthen our walk with Christ. We also take time to share about our cell groups and personal evangelism from the previous week.

It is in this weekly gathering that we really get to know one another, encourage one another and share how we are doing in our most important relationships, with God, family, and others.

I wouldn’t trade this weekly gathering for anything. By this time next year, we envision all leaders being part of a leadership cell. If a person is going to lead an open cell, they will be part of a leadership cell for their own nurture and development; men with men, and women with women.

Meeting weekly in two cells (leadership cell and open cell) is a higher level of commitment, but we are finding this accountability beneficial both to the health of the vision and health of the leader. There are no short cuts to developing healthy relationships with leaders.

Because we are in each other’s lives on a consistent basis, there is less leader losses due to sin and personal problems. What do you do to protect your leaders and hold them accountable?

La bendición del Liderazgo celular

Yo soy parte del grupo de liderazgo celular. Hemos decidido que el entrenamiento y el discipulado son fundamentales para el cumplimiento de nuestra visión: “Para llegar a ser una iglesia llenos del espritu, y buscadores de almas que hacen discpulos que hagan discpulos…”.

Nos reunimos todos los jueves durante 1 ½ horas para compartir nuestras vidas y fortalecer nuestro caminar con Cristo. También tomamos tiempo para compartir sobre nuestros grupos celulares y el evangelismo de la semana anterior.

En el encuentro semanal que realmente llega a conocer unos a otros, animarnos unos a otros y comparte como van nuestras más importantes relaciones, con Dios, la familia y otros.

No cambiara el encuentro semanal para cualquier cosa. En este tiempo el año próximo, queremos que todos los lderes formen parte del grupo de liderazgo celular. Si una persona va a dirigir una célula abierta, abra una parte del liderazgo celular por su propia crianza y desarrollo, hombres con hombres, y mujeres con mujeres.

Reunirse semanal en dos células (células de liderazgo y célula abierta) es un nivel más alto de compromiso, pero estamos encontrando esta responsabilidad beneficiosa tanto para la salud de la visión y la salud del lder. No hay atajos para el desarrollo de relaciones saludables con los lderes.

Porque estamos en la vida del otro sobre una base consistente, hay menos pérdidas del lder debido al pecado y problemas personales. ¿Qué haces para proteger a tus lderes y exigirles responsabilidad?

Is it possible to be honest when writing this post? Well, I’ll give it a shot. I wish with all of my heart that the journey as a leader who follows Jesus was characterized by one victory after another. I wish that there was a set of clear-cut rules and steps that would keep us on a path that is free from personal struggles, where we could jump from one victory to the next. I remember when I first started leading a cell group. The expectation was for each group to multiply regularly, at least once per year. When I did the math, I imagined the potential that my leadership might have on people. I envisioned all kinds of victories in my ministry.

But then something happened. It’s called life. Struggles occurred that impeded the great success that I hoped for. I found myself taking three steps forward and two steps back. I found myself “walking through the valley of the shadow of death.” Following Jesus in this life involves ups and downs. On the path of following Jesus and therefore on the path of leading others, there will be mountains and valleys. It’s just the way it goes. Honestly, I wish more of the leadership books that I read when I was in my 20s had told me about the valleys and just how important they are to the journey. While I in no way glory in the pain, I’ve learned this fact: I learn a lot more through failure than I do through success. There is a lot to learn from times of pain if we will allow God to shape us.

Some of the valleys and failures are do to our choices. But they need not be rooted in sin or moral failure. They also come through various circumstances that are just part of living in a world that falls short of God’s kingdom. The struggles come in many forms. Sometimes life just kicks us in the stomach. Maybe you loose a job and have to file for bankruptcy. Or your son tells you that he got his girlfriend pregnant. Or your spouse gets sick. Or … Or … Or… And there go your plans for how you thought your leadership should work. Questions arise. Pain sets in. Sometimes you might even go to places that are dark and depressing.

Of course there are those struggles that come from poor choices. None of us are perfect and until the day that Jesus returns, leaders will need to deal with the fact that they are not yet perfect. Sometimes these choices are huge and catastrophic and usually relate to moral choices, like sexual indiscretion. Other times, we make choices that reveal character flaws, like blasting someone with anger.

Whatever the case, life and leadership involves personal struggle. And too often Christian leaders feel expectations to not have them. We must create safe places where leaders can struggle without fear of judgment or condemnation. We love to train our leaders about how they need to create safe places in their groups for the group members to share their struggles. Since we never outgrow the struggles of life, we must ask if our leaders have places where they experience this kind of safety.

This goes far beyond creating some kind of place where leaders can talk or telling leaders that they can be transparent. This is a question about church culture. If the church is shaped by a culture of performance, then sharing about personal struggles will be very difficult for people. There will be a focus on external expectations and rule following. But if the culture of the church is one where messy life together is an expectation, where everyone is given the space to struggle together, then leaders are going to be much more likely to talk.

Here’s the reality. We are all wounded. And there will be things that we encounter in this life that will wound us. All of the greatest leaders ever in the church have recognized this reality and have allowed God to work through those wounds to touch others. God works through wounded healers. He does not work around the wounds. He does not work in spite of the wounds. He redeems the wounds for the sake of the world. It’s backward logic from the way we commonly see it, but nonetheless, it’s God’s mysterious way of working. God redeemed the world through the wounds of Jesus and it still works that way today.

Cuando (no si) Se Encuentre con Problemas Personales

¿Es posible ser honesto al escribir este post? Bueno, le daré una oportunidad. Deseo con todo mi corazón que el viaje como lder que sigue a Jesús se caracterice por una victoria tras otra. Me gustara que hubiera un conjunto de reglas claras y pasos que mantengan en un camino libre de conflictos personales, en donde podamos saltar de una victoria a otra. Recuerdo cuando empecé a dirigir un grupo celular. La expectativa era que cada grupo se multiplicara regularmente, al menos una vez al año. Cuando hice los cálculos, me imaginaba el potencial que mi liderazgo podra tener en las personas. Me imaginaba todo tipo de victorias en mi ministerio.

Pero entonces algo sucedió. Se llama vida. La lucha empezó e impidió el gran éxito que yo esperaba. Me encontré dando tres pasos adelante y dos pasos atrás. Me encontré “caminando por el valle de sombra de muerte.” Seguir a Jesús en esta vida implica altibajos. En el camino a seguir a Jesús y por lo tanto en el camino de dirigir otros, habrán montañas y valles. Es sólo la manera que va. Honestamente, deseo más de los libros de liderazgo que le cuando estaba en mis 20’s  que me hubieran hablado de los valles y cuán importantes son para el viaje. Mientras que en el camino no hay gloria en el dolor, aprend esta realidad: aprend mucho más de mis fallas que a través del éxito. Hay mucho que aprender de los momentos de dolor si dejamos que Dios nos forme.

Algunos de los valles y fracasos son hechos por nuestras elecciones. Pero no es necesario que se funden en el pecado o el fracaso moral. También vienen a través de diversas circunstancias que son sólo una parte de la vida en un mundo que está a la altura del reino de Dios. Las luchas vienen en muchas formas. A veces la vida nos golpea en el estómago. Tal vez usted pierde su trabajo y tiene que declararse en quiebra. O su hijo le dice que su novia esta embarazada. O tu esposa se enferma. O… o… o… Y ah van tus planes de cómo usted pensó que tu liderazgo debera funcionar. Las preguntas surgen. El dolor se establece. A veces incluso puedes ir a lugares que son oscuros y deprimentes.

Por supuesto que hay esas luchas que vienen de malas decisiones. Ninguno de nosotros somos perfectos y hasta el da en que Jesús regrese, los lderes tendrán que lidiar con el hecho de que todava no son perfectos. A veces, estas opciones son enormes y catastróficas y por lo general se refieren a decisiones morales, como la indiscreción sexual. Otras veces, tomamos decisiones que revelan defectos de carácter, o descargar tu ira con alguien.

Cualquiera que sea el caso, la vida y el liderazgo implica lucha personal. Y a menudo los lderes cristianos sienten expectativas que no tienen. Debemos crear lugares seguros donde los lderes pueden luchar sin temor al juicio o condenación. Nos encanta entrenar a nuestros lderes en cómo tienen que crear lugares seguros en sus grupos para los miembros del grupo y compartir sus luchas. Dado que nunca se superan las dificultades de la vida, debemos preguntarnos si nuestros lderes tienen lugares donde experimentar este tipo de seguridad.

Esto va mucho más allá de crear algún tipo de lugar donde pueden hablar o decir a los lderes que pueden ser transparentes. Esta es una pregunta acerca de la cultura de la iglesia. Si la iglesia está formada por una cultura de rendimiento, entonces compartir las luchas personales, será muy difcil para la gente. Habrá un énfasis en las expectativas externas y las siguientes reglas. Pero si la cultura de la iglesia es una donde la vida desordenada es una expectativa, donde todos se les da el espacio para luchar juntos, entonces los lderes van a ser mucho más propensos a hablar.

Esta es la realidad. Todos estamos heridos. Y habrán cosas que nos encontramos en esta vida que nos hieren. Todos los grandes lderes de la iglesia han reconocido esta realidad y han permitido que Dios obre a través de esas heridas para tocar a otros. Dios obra a través de sanadores heridos. Él no trabaja alrededor de las heridas. Él no funciona a pesar de las heridas. El rescata las heridas por el bien del mundo. Es una lógica revertida de la forma en que comúnmente se ve, pero sin embargo, es la manera misteriosa en que Dios trabaja. Dios redimió al mundo a través de las heridas de Jesús y todava funciona de esa manera hoy en da.

Experience and history demonstrate that if the Devil cannot make you stumble and fall, he will push you over the top with success. When everything seems to be going perfectly for the believer (and precisely for this blog the cell leader), we should heed the exhortation in 1 Corinthians 10:12-13: “If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” (NLT) A strong reminder precedes these verses saying, “These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age.”

God, our Father, has promised to help us in our temptations and trials, which indicates that we will have them. When they are fostered by our enemy Satan, we can be sure of a subtle attack upon the heart when it is  relaxed in apparent victory. Vital protection is provided through relationships with other believers that see the issues forming while the leader is blind to them. Cell members are of some assistance, but our coaches and supervisors have a greater authority to address pending or current failures.

When problems arise from a leader’s choice to walk contrary to God’s will as revealed in Scripture, coaches and supervisors along with pastors have the great responsibility to exercise redemptive and restorative action. Submission to leadership is a key factor in successfully realigning a cell leader for continued fruitfulness.

Advancing the Kingdom of God is warfare against the god of this world, there will be wounding and casualties inflicted upon the saints. Maintain your ranks, remain in close relationships, love and esteem one another above yourself within a prescribed accountability structure. This will reduce the enemy’s ability to injure your troops and provide a protective environment for every soldier to stand strong in times of personal temptation.

Prescribe estructuras de responsabilidad.

La experiencia y la historia demuestran que si el diablo no puede hacer que tropieces y caigas, él te empujará en la parte superior de tu éxito. Cuando todo parece ir perfectamente para el creyente, y precisamente en este blog “El lder celular”, debemos prestar atención a la exhortación en 1 Corintios 10:12-13: ” As que, el que piensa estar firme, mire que no caiga. No os ha sobrevenido ninguna tentación que no sea humana; pero fiel es Dios, que no os dejará ser tentados más de lo que podéis resistir, sino que dará también juntamente con la tentación la salida, para que podáis soportar. “(RV60) Una fuerte recordatorio precede a estos versos diciendo:” Estas cosas pasaron como ejemplo para nosotros. Fueron escritos para advertirnos que viven en el fin del mundo. ”

Dios, nuestro Padre, ha prometido ayudarnos en nuestras tentaciones y pruebas, lo que indica que las tendremos. Cuando se ven impulsados por nuestro enemigo Satanás, podemos estar seguros de un ataque sutil en el corazón que se relaja en la victoria aparente. Protección Vital es proporcionada a través de las relaciones con otros creyentes que ven los problemas al formarse mientras que el lder está ciego a ellos. Los miembros de la célula son de alguna ayuda, pero nuestros entrenadores y supervisores tienen una autoridad superior para corregir los fallos pendientes o en curso.

Cuando surgen los problemas bajo la decisión del lder al caminar en contra de la voluntad de Dios revelada en la Escritura, los entrenadores y supervisores juntos con los pastores tienen la gran responsabilidad de ejercer acción redentora y restauradora. La sumisión al liderazgo es un factor clave en el éxito para realinear un lder de la célula y continuar con frutos.

El avanzar al Reino de Dios es la guerra contra el dios de este mundo, habrán heridas y muertes infligidas a los santos. Mantenga sus rangos, permanezca en las relaciones ntimas, ama y estima a los demás por encima de ti mismo dentro de la estructura de responsabilidad prescrita. Esto reducirá la capacidad del enemigo para dañar tus tropas y proporciona un entorno protector para todos los soldados a permanecer firmes en los momentos de tentación personal.
