If you have cells where all generations are pro-actively welcome, then preparation needs to bear in mind all ages. Sadly I see intergenerational cells interpreted as “a focus on the children’ then “a focus on the adults.†This, in my opinion, misses the point of us being together. Our focus is Jesus! There is no Biblical evidence that we need to be in peer groups to worship, hear from God or learn together – there is nothing wrong with peer groups – but when they are the comfort zone for us all I think we have lost our way according to the Biblical model.
Hopefully the following will help prepare to fully engage every generation:
Use creativity – God is a creative God and we are here to reflect Him (e.g. bring flowers and appreciate their beauty, all ages write a love letter to Jesus and read it during worship, make a banner adding to it the names of Jesus each week and focus on that during worship).
Be interactive (e.g. praying in pairs, all ages giving testimony, asking different age groups to read a Scripture, have prayer needs from every generation).
Use application questions (e.g. what line of that song meant the most to you, and why? What have you struggled with most this week? Application questions are ageless).
Never focus on “children’s songs” – unless you would sing them even if children were not present. Choose songs that focus on Jesus and do not have endless words (this is good for newcomers too) and are easily remembered. Children need to sing songs that are “beyond them†In old age they will be singing the songs of their childhood!
Mobilize every generation (e.g. to help with the welcome , introduce the ice breaker, call someone who is sick, make cards for birthdays, prepare the room).
Kids Slot – where the children / adults go to another room for the Word and sometimes the Witness. Give as much preparation as the adults receive (maybe more) and always be sure that the coach visits it periodically when he/ she comes to the group. The coach may need to model the Kids Slot in the center of the cell a few times to ensure every member knows how to run it effectively.
Never use art and craft because this teaches little, if anything about Jesus. Here’s an example of what you might use: give each child 2 pieces of paper. Ask them to write the name of someone they like on one and someone they don’t like very much on the other. Then write how many out of 10 they love each person (it will probably be less for the person they don’t like). Then give them another color to write how many out of 10 Jesus loves each of them!!! (I would like to see adults being honest enough to do this too!!!) Teaching point: Jesus love is always unconditional and always the same.
Above all – remember we are there to lead every generation to the throne of God, to have an encounter with Him and weep and laugh together. Why do we need to be separated to do this – providing we prepare well. Comments?

Si usted tiene células donde todas las generaciones son proactivamente bienvenidas, entonces la preparación debe ser en base a todas las edades. Lamentablemente veo las células intergeneracionales interpretarse como “un enfoque en los niños”, y después “un enfoque en los adultos”. Estas, en mi opinión, se pierde el sentido de estar juntos. No hay evidencia bblica de que tenemos que estar en grupos de pares para adorarle, escuchar a Dios o aprender juntos – no hay nada malo los grupos en pares – pero cuando llegan a la zona de comodidad creo que perdemos el camino del modelo bblico.
Esperemos que los siguientes concejos le ayuden a prepararse para participar plenamente con todas las generaciones:
Utiliza la creatividad – Dios es un Dios creativo y estamos aqu para reflejarlo (por ejemplo, lleva flores y aprecia su belleza, todos escriban una carta de amor a Jesús y léanla durante la adoración, crea una pancarta y agrega todos los nombres de Jesús cada semana y concéntrate en la adoración).
Se interactivo (por ejemplo, orando en parejas, todas las edades que den un testimonio, pide a diferentes grupos de edad que lean la Escritura, ora por las necesidades de cada generación).
Utilice preguntas aplicables (por ejemplo, ¿Cuál la lnea de esa canción significa mucho para ti, y por qué? ¿Con qué has tenido problemas la mayora de esta semana? Preguntas aplicables no tienen edad)
Nunca te concentres en “canciones infantiles” – a menos que las cantes incluso cuando los niños no estén presentes. Elige canciones que se centren en Jesús y que no tengan palabras sin fin (esto es bueno para los recién llegados también) y que se recuerden fácilmente. Los niños tienen que cantar canciones que estén “más allá de ellos” En la vejez ellos cantaran las canciones de su infancia.
Moviliza todas las generaciones (por ejemplo, para ayudar con la bienvenida, la introducción del romper el hielo, llama a alguien que esté enfermo, haz tarjetas de cumpleaños, prepara la habitación).
Tiempo de los niños – donde los niños / adultos van a otra habitación para la Palabra y, a veces de testigos. Proporcione toda la preparación necesaria como los adultos (tal vez más) y siempre asegúrese de que el entrenador visite periódicamente cuando él / ella llegue al grupo. El entrenador necesita ser el modelo en el tiempo de los niños en el centro de la célula, varias veces para asegurar que cada miembro sepa cómo hacerlo con eficacia.

Por encima de todo – recuerde que estamos aqu para dirigir a todas las generaciones hasta el trono de Dios, para tener un encuentro con él y llorar y rer juntos. ¿Por qué tenemos que estar separados para hacer esto? – nos preparamos bien.
